Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Compact Games ("the Software"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

Description of Service

Compact Games is a free, open-source Windows desktop utility that applies Windows Overlay Filter (WOF) compression to game installs to reduce disk space usage. The Software is provided as a convenience tool and is not affiliated with any game publisher or platform.

Use at Your Own Risk

Compressing game files modifies how Windows stores them on disk. While the Software includes safety checks (DirectStorage detection, unsupported-games lists, running-process detection), no compression tool can guarantee compatibility with every game or system configuration.

  • You are responsible for verifying that your games work correctly after compression.
  • You are responsible for maintaining backups of critical data.
  • The decompression feature allows you to reverse compression, but this does not constitute a guarantee against data loss.

No Warranty

The Software is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the authors or contributors of Compact Games be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the use or inability to use the Software, including but not limited to data loss, game corruption, or system instability.

Open Source License

Compact Games is open-source software. The source code is available at github.com/g1mliii/compact-games. Use of the source code is subject to the license included in the repository.

Updates

The Software may check for updates via GitHub Releases. Update checks are read-only and do not transmit personal data. You can disable automatic update checks in the app settings.

Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Software after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
